There is an unknown dike to the southeast of Walsenburg. It's on private land accessible through an unpaved, dirt, bumpy county road. I went there and looked around.

Approaching the dike from the northwest. The road crosses a low point in the dike. |

Looking east from the county road that crosses the dike towards the dike's highest point. |
The dike has a higher section and a lower section. The county
road goes over the middle of the two sections. I parked there and walked up almost
to the top of the higher section. There's so much empty space out there. You
can see the baked sandstone on either side of the magmatic portion of the dike.
It's white. The magmatic rocks are an orangish-brown.

Looking west from a point near the dike's highest point. My car is visible on the road. |
Once you get to the top (there's no trail, you have to
bushwhack), the view to the west is pretty amazing. My car kept getting smaller
and smaller as I ascended. The whole time I was on the county road, including
the time I hiked up the dike, I saw no other cars.

The southern side of the dike,. Note the lack of vegetation compared to the northern side (first picture). |
The north side of the dike has some vegetation, but the
south side is largely barren. Not many places in the world have interesting
geological features like dikes. We have so many of them in Huerfano County that
they largely go unnoticed and uncharted.
